After searching high and low, I bought a gorgeous home office desk from the Christopher Lowell collection at Office Depot. It took me ages to find the right desk for my home office. I wanted an espresso finish, so that the desk would match my furniture. I also wanted storage for books, a multifunction printer, telephone, pullout keyboard, supplies, files, and my computer server. And this desk does it all! I have a cabinet for my computer server, so I don’t have to look at the CPU. I’ve got lots of shelves for books, including six shelves hidden behind glass doors. I also have two built-in filing cabinets. And there’s still lots of space for my printer and laptop computer, as well as my phone and a space for writing. I couldn’t be happier. I can even throw some seldom-used supplies into baskets and stow them atop the hutch.
I know it’s a bit over-the-top to be excited about a desk. But if you knew how much time I invested in finding this desk — and how many years I suffered with poorly designed home office desks — you’d be thrilled too!
